BBH GROUP EXPANDS ITS MANAGEMENT TEAM

With an interdisciplinary management team and a wide range of advisory services, the BBH group has set the course for the future. Nine outstanding experts specialising in various practice areas will strengthen the corporate management team with effect from 1 January 2026.

In an ever more challenging political and economic environment, the BBH group is committed to providing comprehensive advice and assistance to its more than 7,000 clients. The BBH group appointed four new partners and five additional partner counsels across its seven offices. In 2024, the group’s service portfolio of legal, business and tax expertise has been expanded to include engineering services for the technical planning and implementation of energy, infrastructure and transformation projects. The extended management team ensures that a consistent approach to interdisciplinary tasks is being adopted and systematically developed.

Building, architectural and procurement law

Daniel Altenburg draws on 20 years of experience as a lawyer and specialises in building, architectural and procurement law at BBH’s Munich office. He advises clients in complex procedures for the award of public contracts, drafts project and building-related contracts, handles the enforcement of and defence against claims and their assertion in court proceedings.

State aid

Lawyer Julia Lipinsky specialises in European State aid law and has been a senior counsel at BBH Berlin since 2024. She advises in the context of notification, complaint and interim relief procedures before national and European courts and counsels clients on matters of European law at the interfaces with procurement law and regulations governing local public transport. Handelsblatt and the US publisher Best Lawyers recognised her as one of “Germany’s top lawyers” in the area of European law in 2024 and 2025.

Energy

Barbara von Gayling-Westphal has been working as a lawyer at BBH Berlin since 2018 and specialises in aspects of administrative law relating to site-specific energy management and the heat transformation. Her areas of practice include decentralised energy supply and district heating as well as matters of environmental, building and planning law. In 2025, Handelsblatt and the US publisher Best Lawyers listed her among “Ones to Watch” in the area of public business law.

Dipl.-Ing. Philipp Jahnke specialises in the technical and systemic design of future energy systems in the energy industry and has been with BBH Consulting AG in Berlin since 2012. The industrial engineer (with a focus on the energy industry and energy technology) analyses energy systems, among other things, and specialises in strategic investment and network development planning.

Lawyer Christoph Lamy has been counselling clients at BBH Berlin on matters relating to renewable energy, battery storage systems, the optimisation of electricity costs and the greening of companies since 2014. He also advises international clients, particularly from Francophone countries.

Jennifer Diane Morgenstern, LL.M., lawyer and certified customs specialist, has been with BBH Berlin since 2018 and focuses on electricity and energy tax law as well as carbon pricing within the national emissions trading system. She prepares tax returns, represents clients in legal remedy proceedings before the financial authorities and fiscal courts and advises on matters of customs and foreign trade law.

Auditing

Dr. Martin Karl has been a public auditor and tax advisor at BBH AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft in Munich since 2021. He specialises in audits of annual and consolidated financial statements in accordance with the principles of German commercial law and the international accounting principles with a special focus on energy supply companies.

Procurement law, concessions

Lawyer Frederic Delcuvé is an expert in procurement and State aid law and has been with BBH Berlin since 2024. He supports contracting entities in award and concession procedures, advises companies on the participation in such procedures and represents clients before public procurement tribunals and courts. In 2024 and 2025, Handelsblatt and the US publisher Best Lawyers listed him among “Ones to Watch” in the area of public business law.

Lawyer Marco Metz is an expert in procurement and concession law and has been with BBH Cologne since 2019. He advises clients across Germany on award procedures, grid takeovers, infrastructure projects as well as reorganisation and restructuring processes. In this context, he also represents clients in proceedings before the competent courts. In his practice, he focuses on energy and water supply infrastructure as well as telecommunications infrastructure.
