Marie-Luise Wolff, chairwoman of the management board of Entega AG, is “Energy Manager of the Year 2019”

Dr. Marie-Luise Wolff is the first woman in the male-dominated energy industry to be awarded the title “Energy Manager of the Year”. The award initiated by E&M editor Helmut Sender, has been presented annually since 2001. The winner of the “Energy Manager of the Year” award is elected by an independent committee of representatives from the energy industry, science and the media.

“Sometimes, it is the quiet tones that make your voice heard,” says Sendner about the award to Wolff, who studied musicology and English language and literature, and received the award both for her achievements as chairwoman of the management board of Entega and for her work as president of the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (Bundesverband der Energie- und Wasserwirtschaft – BDEW).

“Marie-Luise Wolff has successfully transformed the Darmstadt-based energy supplier Entega into one of the leading providers of green electricity, and she is steering the BDEW with a clear vision and voice through the energy transition”, states Barbara Praetorius, professor at the University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft) Berlin and member of the awards committee.

“With Entega AG, Marie-Luise Wolff runs a successful company focused on green electricity. Furthermore, under her leadership, the BDEW has become a forward-looking association of companies with a strong political voice which is committed to a sustainable energy transition,” says member of the awards committee Patrick Graichen, director of Agora Energiewende.

“The substantial change in the energy industry is personified by Marie-Luise Wolff, who shaped Entega AG into a holistic energy supply company of the future and gave BDEW a central role in the energy and climate policy,” states member of the awards committee Christian Held, partner at the law firm Becker Büttner Held.

“Marie-Luise Wolff has contributed to shaping the transformation of the energy industry from the very beginning. Her actions have been consistently forward-looking; She does not complain about unsatisfactory conditions – she solves problems,” says member of the awards committee Christof Spangenberg, managing director of the business consulting firm K.Group.

Dr. Marie-Luise Wolff has been chairwoman of the management board of Entega AG since July 2013 and president of the BDEW since June 2018. She began her career in the energy industry in 1996 as head of corporate communications at Veba AG, before she held various management positions in the energy industry, most recently as a board member at Mainova AG.
