GEWOBAG and WBM acquire almost 1,000 housing units in Berlin with the help of Becker Büttner Held

As the shareholders’ meeting of the seller has given the green light to the transaction last Friday, it is now confirmed that on 31/12/2018, a total of 913 housing units in the Berlin district of Neukölln will become the property of the housing companies GEWOBAG and WBM, which are owned by the federal state of Berlin.

Advised by Becker Büttner Held (BBH), the consortium consisting of GEWOBAG and WBM prevailed over several competitors in a bidding procedure, acquiring two large housing estates comprising a total of 485 and, respectively, 428 housing units in Berlin-Buckow. “We are delighted that a comprehensive housing stock was secured for our clients with this transaction, as a result of which low-priced and affordable housing units are made available to Berliners on a long-term basis”, says lawyer Wolfram von Blumenthal, the BBH partner in charge of the matter.

This is not the first time that BBH and GEWOBAG did business with each other. When GEWOBAG bought the Dolgensee-Center in Berlin-Lichtenberg, BBH served as advisor to the seller of the property. Last autumn, BBH acted as advisor in the context of the development of 71 housing units and 4 commercial units by GEWOBAG, which are built by the project developer “Bonava”.
