Since 2019, Kerstin Andreae has been at the helm of BDEW, which represents the interests of its more than 2,000 member companies. She is very passionate about promoting their members’ interests and, above all, a functioning energy market, working at the interface between business and politics. The awards committee was impressed by Andreae’s decisive role in reorganising gas supply in Germany since the end of the Russian gas deliveries. She is also a strong advocate for the modernisation of the heat networks, which are mostly run by municipalities. Ensuring planning security for companies during the energy transition is another key concern of the award winner. Her ability to reconcile the interests of politics, business and society has made her one of the most distinctive voices in the sector.
Prof. Christian Held, partner at the BBH group and member of the awards committee, extended his heartfelt congratulations, stating: “After a remarkable (energy) political career, Kerstin Andreae has shown a sure hand in leading BDEW, an association which is so important in the German energy industry. When representing the interests of the energy and water industry, she has always kept the concerns of society in relation to energy supply in mind. Her strategic vision and her ability to balance conflicting goals might be needed more than ever right now.”
With more than 700 employees, 7,000 clients and 7 offices, the BBH group is a leading provider of advisory services to energy and infrastructure companies. Energy and supply companies (particularly public utilities, municipalities and local authorities), industrial companies and international groups are among its core clients. The BBH group assists these and many other companies and organisations from all business sectors with legal, business and strategic advice.
